The Attleboro Fire Department responded to a serious multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 95 North near mile marker 4 at approximately 5:35 a.m. on Sunday, February 1, 2026. Upon arrival, crews located three vehicles involved in the crash, with one positioned in the median and two on the shoulder of the highway. Firefighters utilized hydraulic rescue tools to extricate a female in her 30s who was trapped inside her vehicle; she was transported to Rhode Island Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A second vehicle, operated by a male in his 20s, was discovered off the roadway in a snowbank among trees. Crews removed surrounding trees and branches to safely access the vehicle and complete the extrication before he was transported to Rhode Island Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The third patient, a female in her 50s, was able to self-extricate and was transported to Sturdy Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. According to District Chief Michael Maitland, multiple calls were received reporting the crash at various locations along the highway, prompting the deployment of additional crews alongside Massachusetts State Police to ensure no other incidents had occurred. No additional crashes were located. During the response, the breakdown lane and two travel lanes were temporarily closed to provide a safe working area for emergency personnel. Crews remained on scene until approximately 6:50 a.m., and no firefighter injuries were reported. The North Attleborough Fire Department provided mutual aid assistance, and Massachusetts State Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
