ANSONIA, CT — January 15th — Members of the Ansonia and Derby fire departments attended a leadership presentation on officer development. The workshop, led by Lt. Derek Currao of Fire Training Innovations LLC, focused on decision-making, accountability, and communication on the fireground.

Officer development programs are becoming increasingly important in Connecticut departments as they prepare business officers for increased operational and administrative duties. In addition to the presentation, Ansonia members discussed new department software for incident alerting, mapping, and report management. Modern records management systems aid in the streamlining of response paperwork and the improvement of situational awareness during an emergency.
