February 7 Ceremony Honors Fire and EMS Service

CLINTON, CT — February 7th — The Clinton Volunteer Fire Department had their annual awards banquet, which was attended by members, mutual assistance partners, town leaders, and families. The evening honored the service, training, and activities made during emergency responses during the previous year.

Ray Alberino received Firefighter of the Year honors, while Niko Clados was named EMS Person of the Year and Top Responder with 508 calls. Additional awards honored advancements in fire and EMS abilities, junior firefighter accomplishments, and leadership efforts. Life Saving Medals were awarded for incidents involving choking emergencies, vehicle extrication on a frozen pond, and a water rescue in Long Island Sound. Unit Citations and CPR ribbons were also presented. Department officials noted that volunteer service remains essential to community emergency coverage year-round.
