LITCHFIELD, CT — January 21st — The Bantam Fire Company responded to seven calls for service during the day, including four EMS situations and three fire-related replies. One of the fire calls was for a reported chimney fire in Litchfield. Chimney fires are more likely during the colder months, and they are frequently caused by creosote accumulation and excessive heating use. Fire authorities frequently encourage households to arrange annual chimney inspections and cleanings to avoid risk.
