RAVENA, NY — January 27th — The Ravena Fire Dept. remained active over several days of cold weather, providing support services and maintaining emergency coverage throughout the Village of Ravena.
Members staffed a nearby warming shelter for locals in need, ensuring that the station was fully staffed to answer routine and weather-related calls. During the cold spell, crews reacted to a number of occurrences, which is typical of the heightened service demands that occur during the winter. Squad 26-50 also operated in the village to clear snow from fire hydrants. Keeping hydrants accessible is an important winter safety precaution that aids water delivery operations during structure fires.
