BEDFORD, MA — February 5th — Firefighters Brian Vitale and Tyler Card, recent academy graduates, have finished their month-long orientation and begun their permanent shifts, according to a statement from Bedford Professional Firefighters IAFF Local 2310. Until they are approved for all fire ground operations, both firefighters will continue their practical training in their designated groups. Equipment inspections, familiarization with the district, and a review of departmental protocols were all part of orientation.

To increase their emergency medical credentials, both members are expected to enroll in paramedic school in the upcoming months. In Massachusetts, advanced EMS certification is still essential to contemporary fire service operations. Ongoing education and training are crucial components of professional development, according to department leadership.
