January 23, 2026 — Earlier today, the Bay Shore Fire Department was returning from an incident in the Village of Brightwaters when units were dispatched to a reported car fire on Fourth Avenue in Bay Shore. While en route, dispatch advised Chief of Department Ippolito that Suffolk County Police were already on scene confirming an involved vehicle fire. Chief Ippolito and Engine 3-1-3 arrived within minutes and immediately began suppression operations. Upon assessment, firefighters determined the vehicle was a hybrid sedan, prompting a request for the Town of Islip HazMat team as a precautionary measure. Engine 3-1-2 responded to provide additional water supply, while Fire Patrol units assisted with traffic control to ensure scene safety. Firefighters brought the blaze under control swiftly, and all units were released within approximately one hour. The scene was subsequently turned over to Suffolk County Police. No additional injuries were reported.
