At 1:23 pm on Monday 2/9/26 the Willimantic Fire Department with North Windham Truck 102, Mansfield Squad 307, Uconn Truck 122 FAST and Windham Medic 31 were dispatched to 85 Bridge Street for smoke coming from the building.
Engine 101, Truck 101 and Car 201 arrived at 1:25 with smoke showing and transmitted the second alarm. Engine 101 stretched a line to the front while Truck 101 went to the roof. The second alarm added North Windham Rescue 102, Windham Center Engine 103, South Windham Engine 204, Hebron Truck 110, Columbia Squad 105 FAST & Ambulance 605, Coventry Ambulance 618 with Windham Medic 32. Callbacks came in to staff Truck 201, Engine 301 and Engine 201 which also responded.
Engine 103 laid a supply line down Mountain Street while Engine 301 hit a separate hydrant. Trucks 101 and 201 went to the roof for vertical ventilation. Fire began venting from the rear and through the roof so crews were backed out of the building. Four hand lines, two ladder pipes and a ground monitor were used to knock down the fire.
Columbia Engine 105, Scotland Engine 116, Ambulance 616 and Dayville’s Rehab 263 were also added for support. Car 1 had command while Car 201 was operations and Car 4 had staging. The Windham Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.
