On the evening of January 19th, the Danbury Fire Department supplied mutual help to the City of Bristol as part of a coordinated regional plan. A crew of four Danbury firemen from IAFF Local 801 staffed Bristol Fire Station #4 while services were held for a fallen Bristol Fire Department member. The coverage plan included career departments from West Hartford, Middletown, New Britain, Southington, Torrington, Wallingford, North Haven, and East Hartford. The coverage guaranteed that Bristol residents continued to get full fire protection throughout the services. Officials stated that the firemen sent to Bristol were not transferred from active duty companies in their home areas.
