On February 2, at around 11:33 p.m., the Fairfield Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire on Figlar Avenue after a resident contacted 911 to report a fire in the living room. A functional smoke detector notified the household, allowing all three residents to safely flee before firefighters arrived.
Firefighters arrived at the scene in five minutes and discovered fire coming from many windows and extending along the home's exterior. Under the supervision of department commanders, firefighters deployed multiple hose lines and established a hydrant water supply. Interior and exterior personnel worked to extinguish the fire as it spread to the rear family room. The fire was extinguished before reaching the second-floor bedrooms. There were no civilian injuries reported. One chief officer suffered a minor injury and did not require transportation. Fire officials credited the smoke detector, quick evacuation, and coordinated response with preventing further damage. The fire remains under investigation by the Fire Prevention Division with assistance from the building inspector.
