On February 3, the King Ferry Fire Department and the Genoa Volunteer Fire Department responded on mutual assistance to help the Lansing Fire Department with a detached garage fire on Ludlow Road. King Ferry firefighters were tasked with operating a tanker fill site from the fire hydrant at Lansing Station 3 on Ridge Road. Maintaining a consistent water supply allowed suppression workers to work without interruption while controlling the fire. During the incident, the Town of Lansing Highway Department responded with a salt spreader vehicle to remedy ice road conditions near the landfill.
