Old Saybrook, CT — January 11th — During its annual banquet, the Old Saybrook Fire Department recognized member achievements, including Lieutenant Cameron DeAngelo's selection as Firefighter of the Year. The award was based on DeAngelo's constant response activity, support for the Training Division, and commitment to professional development, according to department officers.

Firefighter David Elkins got the Firefighter Administration Commendation Ribbon, while Firefighter Michael Franklin and Firefighters Anthony Ruitto and Bruce Watford won longevity awards for 30 and 20 years of service, respectively. Members were also awarded for their outstanding incident responses during a year in which the department fielded 533 calls. Additional awards marked education and certification achievements in fire service and emergency medical training. Several members will also be recognized later this year at regional and state-level events honoring fire service dedication.
