WELLSVILLE, NY - On January 21st, at 10:10 a.m., the Wellsville NY Vol. Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at the Pine Street Laundromat. Firefighters arrived to find an active fire and thick smoke inside the building. Command requested a second alarm to deploy more resources to the scene.
As crews began their activities, occupants upstairs were evacuated. Firefighters quickly identified the cause of the fire and restricted it to a single dryer, preventing it from spreading to the remainder of the building. Wellsville units responded to the area alongside mutual-aid departments from Andover, Willing, and Allentown, as well as an air truck and FAST team. The Wellsville Police Department, Wellsville Ambulance Corps, Allegany County fire coordinators, Wellsville Village Electric, National Fuel, and Allegany County 911 all offered assistance. The event was stabilized with no reported injuries, and the business was saved from additional harm.
