Fitchburg, MA — January 29th — The Fitchburg Fire Department responded to a fire in Gardner early in the morning by offering mutual aid assistance. Fitchburg Engine 2 was tasked with station coverage in Gardner as Gardner Fire Department units worked on a working fire. While local crews are dedicated to an ongoing crisis, station coverage guarantees that emergency services are available for additional calls.

Throughout the exercise, Fitchburg employees manned the station and were prepared to react as needed. A Fire Investigation Unit was called in to help with the investigation. These kinds of mutual aid assignments are a standard component of regional fire operations and contribute in maintaining coverage and service continuity during protracted events.
