February 1, 2026 — The Morrill Volunteer Fire Department responded to a range of calls and completed training activities throughout January, including motor vehicle accidents, mutual aid requests, and routine department operations.

The month began on Jan. 5 at 12:05 p.m. when Morrill Fire was paged to investigate a fire alarm activation on North Main Street, which was quickly determined to be a false alarm. On Jan. 7, crews responded to two separate single-vehicle accidents, first on North Main Street at 5:24 a.m., followed by another on Higgins Hill Road at 5:43 a.m.

On Jan. 9, Morrill Fire provided mutual aid to Brooks, responding to a vehicle accident on Bear Trap Highway at 12:05 p.m. Early on Jan. 20, at 2:40 a.m., the department was paged to stand by at the station while neighboring departments handled a reported chimney fire in Montville.

Later that same day, members held their monthly meeting at 7 p.m., completing station maintenance and cleaning while focusing primarily on annual classroom training. Training topics included hazardous materials identification, fire extinguisher use, bloodborne pathogens, and personal protective equipment.

Additional responses included a single-vehicle accident on Weymouth Road on Jan. 22 at 8:50 p.m. and a mutual aid dispatch to Belfast for a reported structure fire on Jan. 29 at 2:03 p.m. Morrill Fire was canceled by Belfast Command prior to arrival.

The department thanks its members for their continued dedication to training, readiness, and service to the community.
