January 14, 2026 — Belfast Fire & EMS recognized the retirement of two longtime members this month, marking the conclusion of 73 combined years of service to the city and surrounding communities.

Fire Captain Donnie Hahn retired after 38 years with the department, while Assistant EMS Chief Debby Heath concluded a 35-year career in emergency medical services. Together, their decades of service spanned generations of firefighters, EMTs, and patients, leaving a lasting impact on public safety in Belfast.

Captain Hahn was known for his steady leadership, dedication to training, and commitment to community involvement. Throughout his career, he played a key role in mentoring younger firefighters and supporting department operations. Even in retirement, Hahn is expected to remain active in the community, including volunteering at Anah Shrine events.

Assistant EMS Chief Heath was widely respected for her compassion, professionalism, and advocacy for high-quality patient care. Over 35 years, she helped shape the department’s EMS operations and served as a mentor to countless providers. Colleagues say her influence will continue to be felt long after her final shift, with Heath planning to remain involved through volunteer work, including supporting local soup kitchens.

Department leadership praised both retirees for exemplifying service beyond the job, noting that Hahn and Heath consistently gave back to the community they served.

Belfast Fire & EMS extended its congratulations and gratitude to both retirees, thanking them for their decades of dedication and wishing them well in retirement.
