Charlton, MA — January 23rd — The Charlton Fire Department was called to a single-vehicle collision on Carpenter Hill Road. When firefighters arrived, paramedics were assessing the driver while personnel secured the area and dealt with traffic problems.
Poor travel conditions were a result of high winds causing dangerous snow drifts on vulnerable routes. Wind conditions were predicted to get worse overnight, according to officials, and drifting was observed in a number of locations. It was requested that the Charlton Highway Department address known trouble spots. A utility pole was also damaged in the collision, and National Grid was called in. As utility and emergency personnel continue their work, drivers are urged to use caution, slow down, and give extra stopping distance.
