Auburn, MA — January 25 — Car 3 and Ladder 1 of the Auburn Fire Department, located at 47 Auburn Street, went on mutual assistance to a reported chimney fire in the Town of Oxford early on January 25. The fire spread from the chimney into the house's attic. Auburn teams acted under the incident command system alongside Oxford Fire & Emergency Services and other assisting departments. To make sure the fire was completely contained, firefighters helped with overhaul, suppression, and extension checks.
Chimney fires can spread into hidden locations and require coordinated activities and careful observation. Mutual aid responses allow departments to pool resources during working emergencies while retaining coverage in their home communities. Later, headquarters released the Auburn units and they resumed their duties.
