On January 5th at around 3:38 a.m., the Norwalk Fire Department responded to a reported house fire on Woodward Avenue. According to the first complaint, there was a fire in the first-floor furnace room of a three-story multi-family home.
Upon arrival, firefighters observed fire extending through wall voids and the stairs from the first floor toward the second floor. Crews deployed hoselines and conducted internal operations to contain the fire, successfully preventing extension to the upper floors. All residents escaped the building prior to firefighter arrival.
A cat was also found and safely taken out of the house by firefighters. A first-alarm assignment including three engines, two trucks, one rescue unit, and a shift commander—a total of twenty-five people working on the scene—brought the fire under control in about twenty-five minutes. There were no reported injuries. The Norwalk Fire Marshal Division is investigating the cause of the fire.
