Bergenfield Firefighters Battle House Fire In Freezing Temperatures

Bergenfield - Firefighters faced freezing temperatures as they battled a house fire late Monday Night. Around 9:40pm, Bergenfield Firefighters, along with automatic aid from Dumont, was dispatched to 166 West Main St for a reported house fire. Chief Zadrozna arrived on scene with smoke showing from the second floor of a two and a half story frame. Engine 1 arrived on scene and stretched an 1.75" through the front door. A water supply was established and members from engine 3 and Dumont Engine 5 assisted with interior operations. As interior crews made a push to the second floor, heavy smoke followed by heavy fire began to vent from the bravo side window on the second floor. Interior crews continued to push to the fire room and was able to knock down the heavy fire. A second line was stretched as Englewood ladder took the roof and opened up for vertical ventilation. The fire was under control within 30 minutes. No injuries were reported and the cause is under investigation. New Milford assisted on scene as the FAST Team.
