January 24, 2026 — With a winter storm forecast to impact the region from Sunday into Monday, bringing heavy snow and hazardous travel conditions, the Dunn’s Corners Fire Department has announced it will be fully staffed with volunteer firefighters throughout the storm. Officials are urging residents to take proactive steps to reduce risks and help emergency crews operate efficiently, including avoiding unnecessary travel, driving slowly despite four-wheel-drive capabilities, and ensuring vehicles are winter-ready. Residents are also reminded to clear snow from fire hydrants, use space heaters and generators safely, and check on neighbors who may need assistance, particularly the elderly or those with limited mobility. Emergency officials stress that 911 should be used for true emergencies, while everyone else is encouraged to stay home, stay warm, and remain safe as conditions deteriorate.
