In order to facilitate quicker emergency response, the Huntington Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 Station 75 is encouraging locals to maintain fire hydrants free of snow and ice. In order to provide personnel with rapid access to a water supply during a fire, firefighters request that a minimum of three feet be cleared around each hydrant on all sides. Snow-covered hydrants can hinder operations, whereas a clear hydrant helps cut reaction time when seconds matter.

When shoveling, residents are urged to inspect and clear any nearby hydrants. In an emergency, a few minutes of work can have a significant impact. The community's cooperation and ongoing support are much appreciated by the Huntington Volunteer Fire Company.
