The Montvale Volunteer Fire Department is advising homeowners that some fire hydrants around town remain covered by snow and ice. Blocked hydrants can cause delays during emergency operations, when prompt access to a water supply is crucial, according to fire officials. Residents are asked to clean hydrants located on or near their property to ensure firemen may operate without interruption. During the winter, having hydrants readily available promotes quicker fire suppression and enhances general public safety.
