In between emergency calls, Hackensack Fire Department personnel cleared snow and ice from fire hydrants throughout the city due to the possibility of further bad weather this weekend. According to fire officials, having hydrants nearby is essential to ensuring a steady supply of water during emergencies and fires. Owners of businesses and residents are urged to help by clearing snow from nearby hydrants. By doing this, firefighters can enable faster fire suppression operations and quickly link to a water source.
