East Rutherford Firefighters Provide Mutual Aid at Back-to-Back Working Fires in Passaic
January 11, 2026 — Over the past two days, the East Rutherford Fire Department (ERFD) provided critical mutual aid support to the City of Passaic at two separate working structure fires occurring on consecutive days. ERFD Truck 1 was requested on both incidents to assist the Passaic Fire Department during active fire operations.
During each response, Truck 1 operated with split crews, allowing firefighters to simultaneously support roof ventilation and interior fire suppression efforts. Working side by side with Passaic firefighters, ERFD members played a key role in improving fire conditions, assisting with containment, and supporting overall incident operations.
The back-to-back mutual aid responses underscore the strong regional cooperation among fire departments and highlight the importance of shared resources and trained personnel during major emergencies. ERFD officials commended their members for their professionalism, adaptability, and continued commitment to assisting neighboring communities whenever called upon.
