Jan. 20, 2026 — Members of the Dumont Volunteer Fire Department gathered at the firehouse on Tuesday to celebrate a milestone birthday for one of the department’s most respected members. Ex-Chief and current Department Chaplain Kenny Florio marked his 95th birthday, surrounded by firefighters past and present.

Florio’s service to the department and the Dumont community spans decades. During his time as chief and in his ongoing role as chaplain, he has been a steady presence within the organization, offering leadership, guidance, and support to generations of volunteers.

Department officials said Florio’s dedication and commitment continue to inspire current members, noting that his involvement remains an important part of the department’s culture and history.
