January 11, 2026 — The Demarest Fire Department has completed the re-lettering of its emergency apparatus following Bergen County Dispatch’s transition to using Originating Agency Identifier (ORI) numbers for apparatus designation. The update ensures clearer identification and improved interoperability during emergency responses. Department officials noted that the change provided an ideal opportunity to refresh markings across the fleet, aligning unit identifiers with the new dispatch protocol. The department expressed appreciation to Fire and Safety Services NJ and Box Alarm Grilles LLC for their assistance and custom work, which helped complete the project efficiently and to a high standard. The updated lettering reinforces operational clarity while maintaining the department’s established “Department 9” and Southside standards.
