East Freehold, NJ — Jan. 17 —In order to maintain coverage across Freehold Township on Saturday night, the East Freehold Fire Company has two fully outfitted crews on standby.

While members of Freehold Township Independent Fire Company No. 1 attended their yearly installation dinner, Engine 16-2-77 was manned and stationed at District 1 headquarters, responding to calls on the west side of town. In the meantime, Freehold Township Fire District No. 2 calls were being answered by Engine 16-2-78, which was still fully manned in East Freehold headquarters. The department also congratulated the newly installed officers of Station 16-1 on their leadership roles. East Freehold Fire Company noted it has remained 100 percent volunteer since 1967 and continues to seek new members interested in serving the community. The department offers training, equipment, and a stipend program to those who join its ranks.
