Fire Captain Oscar Morales has been named the 2025 Firefighter of the Year by the Bloomfield Fire Department. Members who demonstrate a great commitment to service, professionalism, and dedication are recognized with this honor. With qualifications in swiftwater, confined space, trench, and rope rescue, Captain Morales is among the department's most skilled technical rescuers. In addition, he supported community safety and education as one of the department's first trained Child Passenger Safety Technicians.

In addition to emergency response, Captain Morales has undertaken peer support and resiliency training and is a member of the department's Critical Incident Stress Management team. He is renowned for providing consistent leadership, coaching upcoming firemen, and assisting with operations and training. His efforts continue to improve public safety and agency preparedness.
