Company No. 1 of the Leonia Fire Department took a moment on January 8 to honor a departed member who gave their life while serving the community. On January 8, 1915, firefighter John J. Bellerson passed away while performing his duties. Firefighter Bellerson's bravery and commitment continue to play a significant role in the department's history. Generations of firefighters who came after him still remember his service more than a century later.
