The Collings Lakes Fire Department began the new year on a hectic note, aiding with three dwelling and building fires over three days. On January 4, the department was asked to provide mutual aid to the Town of Hammonton for a working home fire in the 600 block of Peach Street. Firefighters from Hammonton arrived to find a one-story residence on fire. Ladder 12-36 and Squad 12-31 responded, and personnel assisted with fire extinguishment and overhaul.
Two days later, on January 6, shortly after returning from a motor vehicle accident on Mays Landing Road, the department was once again asked for mutual aid. This time, units responded to the Richland section of Buena Vista Township for a working structure fire in the 600 block of Tuckahoe Road. A detached outbuilding was fully involved upon arrival of Richland and East Vineland units. Squad 12-31 and Tender 12-34 assisted with extinguishment, overhaul, and water supply. A third minor dwelling fire was also handled in the Cecil section of Monroe Township later that same morning.
