Fanwood, NJ — December 30 — A reported structure fire on North Glenwood Road prompted the Fanwood Fire Department, which is based at 75 North Martine Avenue, to react. Firefighters found an ongoing deck fire at the back of a house when they arrived. After being assigned, Engine 7, Ladder 1, and Engine 8 started performing suppression operations. Crews swiftly put out the fire by extending a 1½-inch attack line. In about fifteen minutes, the situation was under control. After conducting interior inspections, firefighters verified that the house did not have an expansion. The damage was restricted to the outside deck area, and no casualties were reported. The house and surrounding properties suffered less damage as a result of the prompt action and well-coordinated activities that stopped the fire from spreading further.
