January 1, 2026 — The Grand Isle Volunteer Fire Department closed out 2025 with another increase in emergency responses, answering a total of 148 calls over the course of the year. Firefighters responded to a wide range of incidents, including structure fires, motor vehicle crashes, CPR and overdose calls, smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, hazardous materials incidents, as well as marine and ice rescues. The steady rise in call volume highlights the growing demands placed on the department and the commitment of its members, who continue to serve their neighbors around the clock and in all conditions. As the new year begins, Grand Isle Fire remains trained, equipped, and ready to respond to whatever challenges 2026 may bring.
