Alburgh Fire Department to Host Ice Rescue Recertification Training

January 16, 2026 — The Alburgh Volunteer Fire Department announced it will host its first annual Ice Rescue Recertification Course in partnership with Lifesaving Resources LLC, bringing advanced cold-water rescue training to first responders in the region. The two-day program includes a classroom session on Friday, February 6, from 6–8 p.m., followed by hands-on ice training on Saturday, February 7, from 10 a.m.–3 p.m., at 60 Firehouse Road in Alburgh. The $50 course fee covers the training manual, certification, and lunch on Saturday, with recertification valid for five years. Participants must provide their own immersion suits and helmets and are encouraged to dress in layers and bring extra clothing and towels. Instruction will be led by Bill Gett and Chris Retz. Registration is required through each department’s chief or training officer by February 1, 2026, with payment accepted by check or Venmo.
