January 16, 2026 — The Cambridge Fire Department has announced plans for its annual Calcutta fundraising event, a long-standing tradition that helps support the department’s operations, equipment purchases, maintenance, and community events without placing additional burden on local taxpayers. The event will take place on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at the Vermont State University Johnson Campus, with doors opening at 5 p.m., dinner served at 6 p.m., and the Calcutta drawing and festivities to follow. Tickets are priced at $120 and include dinner for two along with entry into the event. A total of 98 tickets will be sold, while the final two tickets—numbers 99 and 100—will be raffled the night of the dinner for $10 per chance, offering guaranteed winning opportunities and an added layer of excitement. With cash prizes awarded throughout the evening, including a top prize of $1,500, the Calcutta provides both a lively night out and a meaningful way for the community to support its volunteer firefighters.
