December 19, 2025 — Sheldon Fire Department firefighters wrapped up their final scheduled drill of 2025 with a comprehensive evening of hands-on training focused on critical fireground and rescue skills. Members practiced donning and doffing full protective gear, vent-enter-search (VES) techniques, patient removal scenarios, and dry hose line advancement. The training emphasized teamwork, firefighter safety, and proficiency in high-risk, low-frequency situations that responders may face in real emergencies. Department leaders noted that regular drills like this ensure firefighters remain prepared to protect the Sheldon community, while also serving as an opportunity to introduce prospective volunteers to the challenges and rewards of the fire service. Sheldon Firefighters typically meet most Thursday evenings, and the department encourages anyone interested in volunteering to reach out and learn more.
