Stillwater, NJ — January 5 — At 929 Stillwater Road, the Stillwater Area Volunteer Fire Company responded with mutual aid to a single-car motor vehicle accident in which a truck impacted a stone wall and became trapped. The fire departments from Fredon, Hampton, and Stillwater were called. Within six minutes of being dispatched, Chiefs 42-1 and 42-2 as well as Engine 42 arrived.

The patient was removed by crews using hydraulic extrication tools, which took nine minutes to complete. Fredon EMS treated the patients, and a medical chopper was called in to take them to a nearby trauma hospital. Before leaving the area, every unit helped create a landing zone. During complicated roadway crises, the experience demonstrated the importance of quick response, training, and coordinated mutual aid.
