Structure Fire at Newburgh Deli Sends Male to Hospital with Burn Injuries

NEWBURGH, NY – On January 19th, Winona and Orange Lake Fire Departments responded to a structure fire at 165 South Plank Road, the NY Hometown Deli. Units arrived to find a male subject outside the building with burns. Town of Newburgh EMS transported the individual to Montefiore St. Luke’s Hospital. A second alarm was sounded, bringing mutual aid from Good Will, Cronomer Valley, Coldenham, New Windsor, City of Newburgh, and Vails Gate Fire Departments. Firefighters gained entry to the building, knocked down the fire, and used hand lines and ground ladders. Deputy Orange County Fire Coordinator 36-13 was on scene, and the Town of Newburgh Fire Inspector was requested. Central Hudson was also called to the scene. Town of Newburgh temporarily closed State Route 52 while operations were ongoing. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
