OTFD Installs 2026 Fire Officers

The Old Tappan Volunteer Fire Department's Line (Firefighting) Officers were officially installed at the January 2026 meeting of the Mayor and Council. Sworn in by Old Tappan Mayor Tom GALLAGHER were, Chief of Department Charles ANDERS IX, Deputy Chief Chris REILLY, Captain Kristel MOCKLER, and Lieutenants Nick CHRISCOULO, Steve NAYLIS, Brady GALLAGHER and Christopher HUSSLEIN.  


The Chiefs and Captain normally will assume a higher supervisory position such as Incident Commander and/or Operations Commander at fires and emergencies. The Lieutenants are charged with the immediate supervision and leadership of the Department's Firefighters as they carry out the six Firefighting Functions:


1. Stretching and operating hose lines.

2. Forcible Entry.

3. Search and Rescue.

4. Laddering.

5. Ventilation.

6. Overhaul.


Chief ANDERS and the Department wish to remind all Old Tappan residents to know two ways out of their residence in the event of a fire and, during this winter season, to shovel out the fire hydrant closest to their home after any signifcant snowfall, help us, to help you!!!
