FREMONT, NH — December 13 — Following a reported car accident on Route 101 eastbound, the Fremont NH Fire Rescue Department, based at 425 Main Street in Fremont, New Hampshire, issued a winter roadway safety reminder. There was no information available about injuries, and Fremont Fire Rescue does not serve Route 101.
The event served as a reminder that, despite the appearance of sanded or salted roads, winter driving hazards can still exist. Black ice patches may appear suddenly in below-freezing temperatures, decreasing traction and lengthening stopping distance. During the winter months, crashes caused by these conditions are frequently responded to by emergency services across the region. Particularly in the early morning and evening, drivers are advised to keep an eye out for ice places, slow down, and give additional following distance.
