DERRY, NH — January 4 — There will be ice rescue training on Beaver Lake at Gallien's Beach, according to the Derry, NH Fire Department, which is located at 14 Manning Street in Derry, NH. The training is a regular aspect of being ready for situations involving people or animals on ice during the winter.

Firefighters will use specialized equipment under controlled conditions and practice ice rescue tactics. Crews will drill holes on the ice as part of the evolution to create the open water areas required for training. To warn anyone nearby, these apertures will be prominently marked with cones. Crews are more equipped to handle cold-weather situations that frequently occur during the winter thanks to ice rescue training. While training exercises are underway, residents were advised to stay vigilant about activities near the lake and stay away from designated areas.
