Early Morning Incidents Draw Multi-Agency Response in Attleboro

Attleboro, MA: Early on Monday morning, the Attleboro Fire Department responded to three severe accidents in two hours, necessitating extensive manpower and coordination throughout the city. An anhydrous ammonia alert at a manufacturing business at 50 Perry Avenue triggered a master box alarm at around 5:55 a.m., prompting crews to respond. The building's elevated levels were verified, and the leak was limited to one room. A Tier 1 response was requested from the Massachusetts Hazardous Materials Emergency Response Division. The space was vented until readings returned to safe levels, and state hazmat professionals verified that the system was secure. Around 8:39 a.m., workers left the scene without reporting any casualties.
At at 6:26 a.m., Attleboro Fire was called to a rollover mishap on Interstate 95 southbound as they were responding to the hazardous incident. One person was trapped in a car that firefighters found about fifty feet into a wooded area. After being extricated by crews, the patient was sent to a nearby hospital with only minor wounds. The Norton Fire Department and the North Attleborough Fire Department both offered assistance. The scene was cleared by 7:24 a.m.
At approximately 7:45 a.m., crews responded to a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 295 northbound. One person was transported to Sturdy Memorial Hospital with minor injuries. Firefighters remained on scene for about 45 minutes The Attleboro Police Department and Massachusetts State Police are investigating the crashes. The Attleboro Fire Department thanked its mutual aid partners and responding agencies for their support during the busy morning.
