William Newton, also known to many as Billy, was a retired firefighter and EMT. The Falmouth Fire Rescue Department is sorry to report his passing. On November 11, 1984, fireman Newton started working for the Falmouth Fire Department as a call fireman assigned to West Falmouth Station 4. He was appointed as a full-time firefighter on August 9, 1987, and went on to serve the department with distinction at several stations throughout his career. Billy also served twice as a Provisional Lieutenant, from January 23 to February 19, 2011, and again from October 28, 2012, until his retirement on April 1, 2013.

Billy exemplified the finest ideals of the profession with his devotion to the fire department and to the people of Falmouth. We will never forget the years of service and sacrifice he made. During this trying time, Fire Chief Timothy R. Smith and the officers and members of the Falmouth Fire Rescue Department send their sincere condolences to his wife, Shardell, and his whole family. Billy's life will be honoured at a later time; specifics will be announced as soon as they become available. You can relax, Brother.
