Workers from Jernick Moving and Storage started moving items from the CFD annexe and storage facilities into the new facility this week, marking a significant milestone in the Cutchogue Fire Department's new firehouse project. All of the department's and the Fire District's administrative functions will be transferred as part of the first phase of the relocation. Computers, office supplies, furniture, and other necessities were handled by moving crews. Minor finishing elements and communications system enhancements were still being worked on by construction personnel. In order to test new features, such as the diesel exhaust system, some equipment was recently backed into the building for the first time. Emergency response operations and equipment will be moved after the remaining construction is finished.
