With its last call of 2025, the Cutchogue Fire Department formally ended the year on Dec 31st night. It was the busiest year in the department's history. At 4:30 p.m. on New Year's Eve, the department received its final call for service, bringing the total number of calls for the year to 567. The previous record of 527 calls, which had existed since 2012, was exceeded by that number. An EMS alert on Alvah's Lane signalled the start of the new year at 1:14 p.m. on Thursday. The department also responded to a mutual assistance request for a building fire at a nearby supermarket on New Year's Day. Later that evening, there was another EMS alert. The department's leadership expressed gratitude to the community for its unwavering support during 2025 and said they are eager to continue serving people in the upcoming year. Officials wished the community a safe, healthy, and prosperous New Year as the department begins its 98th year of operation.
