As 2025 came to a close, the Pownal Fire Department marked the end of a demanding and eventful year, having responded to nearly 150 calls for service across the community and surrounding areas. The year included everything from motor-vehicle crashes and fire suppression to medical assists and mutual aid responses, highlighting the wide-ranging role volunteer firefighters play in protecting the region.

On Dec. 31, Pownal firefighters capped off the year with emergency responses that underscored both the unpredictability of the job and the importance of regional cooperation. Crews worked alongside partner agencies, including fire, EMS, and air medical resources, ensuring timely care and scene safety under challenging conditions.

Department officials expressed gratitude to residents, local partners, and neighboring departments for their continued support throughout the year. “Every call answered reflects countless hours of training, dedication, and sacrifice by our members and their families,” the department noted. “We could not do this work without the support of the community.”

As the calendar turned to 2026, the Pownal Fire Department extended New Year’s wishes to the public and reaffirmed its commitment to readiness, service, and safety in the year ahead.
