Pownal Fire and Pownal Valley Respond to Serious Route 7 Crash With Vehicle Extrication

On December 23, 2025, the Pownal Fire Department, assisted by the Pownal Valley Fire Department, responded to a serious motor vehicle crash on Route 7 that required vehicle extrication. Emergency crews arrived to find significant damage and immediately began coordinating patient care and scene stabilization.

Firefighters worked alongside EMS personnel to safely extricate the occupant(s) from the vehicle, using specialized rescue tools while ensuring scene safety along the busy roadway. The coordinated response allowed crews to provide rapid medical attention and prepare the patient(s) for transport.

The incident underscores the importance of inter-agency cooperation and ongoing training, particularly for complex rescues involving extrication. Pownal Fire officials reminded motorists to remain alert and cautious while traveling, especially during winter conditions that can contribute to serious crashes.
