On December 3, 2025, the Pownal Fire Department, along with the Pownal Valley Fire Department, responded to multiple calls for service as winter weather created hazardous road conditions throughout the area.

Crews were dispatched to several motor vehicle crashes and slide-offs as snow-covered and slippery roadways challenged drivers during the early hours of the day. Firefighters worked alongside partner agencies to secure scenes, assist motorists, and ensure safe travel conditions while operating in difficult weather.

The departments remind residents to slow down, allow extra travel time, and use caution when driving during winter storms. Conditions can change rapidly, and even familiar roads can become dangerous.

Thanks to the dedication and readiness of local emergency responders, incidents were handled efficiently as crews remained available for additional calls.
