As crews conducted the department's yearly Santa Run through neighbourhoods throughout the community, the Centre Moriches Fire Department continued a long-standing holiday tradition. While lights flashed and sirens roared, Santa Claus rode atop a fire engine and greeted locals as it passed through the town. As firefighters waved and gave candy canes to kids along the way, families congregated outside their houses.

In order to ensure that the event reached neighbourhoods around Centre Moriches, many crews worked throughout the morning to cover as many streets as possible. During the holiday season, the Santa Run is still a well-liked custom that allows firefighters to interact with the community. Residents who gave Santa and the crews cookies, snacks, and refreshments during the ceremony were also praised by the members.
