VIRGIL, NY — December 18 — A training session using thermal imaging cameras was attended by Virgil Fire Department personnel. The course focused on practical fireground application and was taught by Meridian Fire Training Solutions.

The use of thermal imaging cameras in size-up, directed fire attacks, and primary searches was covered by instructors. Reading heat patterns, comprehending camera limits, and incorporating TIC use into regular operating procedures were all covered in the course. To improve crew cooperation and decision-making, scenarios were created based on typical residential fire settings. The fire service uses thermal imaging cameras extensively to increase firefighter safety and situational awareness. In order to guarantee that firefighters stay competent with changing technology and fireground equipment, the workshop emphasized the importance of practical instruction and ongoing training.
